PEDRO CHEMES' QUARTET

Pedro Chemes is one of the most talented young Tango composers and performers on the Argentinean Tango scene. He has started this project in 1996 after leading the musical Tango bands as "Cuarteto de la Ochava" and "Quinteto Boedo". This quartet performs a traditional and contemporary repertoire including their own works. They performed several public auditions in the Argentine Theater of La Plata, the Presidente Alvear Theater, the San Martín Theather, the "Salón Colon of the Casa Rosada" - where they performed the world premiere of its CD recording "Tangos". They also played at the "Salón Dorado" of the Cultural Secretary of the City of Buenos Aires, the Fine Arts National Museum, the Catholic Church "La Merced' , the National Academy of Tango, the Sivori Museum, the Isaac Fernandez Blanco Museum ,the "Enrique Udaondo" Museum and at the Malba (Latin-American Arts Museum of Buenos Aires City) sponsored by the Embassy of Germany. Pedro Chemes Quartet also performed in the National Public Library where they recorded with other musicians a live CD for the record company Melopea. Sponsored by the Cultural Government Office they performed in the Cultural Forum of the Universidad del Litoral (Sta. Fe). They participated in the following series of cultural events: - "Aguante el Tango" that took place in a well known discotheque "La Trastienda"; - "ABC del Tango" organized by ADI and the National Public Library; - "Primavera Musical de Bs. As."; and - "VII Bandoneonazo". They participated in special TV programs for the Argentine TV Channels TN and Solo Tango. This year Pedro Chemes Cuarteto is performing their new CD and video "TANGOS".
